WHC Dept of Surgery 20th Annual William J. Fouty, MD Memorial Cocktail Reception
On Monday, November 7, 2011, Washington Hospital Center's Department of Surgery sponsored a cocktail reception at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, DC in advance of the 20th Annual Willaiam J. Fouty, MD Memorial Lecture to be held the next morning. These photos were captured at that event.
From 1977 through 1989, Dr. Fouty served the Washington Hospital Center as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery. He was a driving force in the development of the hospital's specialized services and facilities such as the vascular lab, emergency department, and operating suites. Dr. Fouty improved and fortified the surgical residency program to withsatand a decade of increasing challenges and requirements of accreditation. During his era as Chairman, the program emerged as a surgical residency capable of competing for the highest quality graduate physicians.
